The free, open and stable international order is in grave danger, as former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida presciently warned in 2023. Fast forward two years and this prophecy appears increasingly plausible with the self-withdrawal of the United States from global leadership and a rising trend toward depreciating the value of a free and open international order in favor of one based on power and asymmetry.
