IRSEA Upgrades Partnership with ASEAN Foundation, Envisaging New Means of Cooperation

On February 16th 2022, Romanian Institute for Europe-Asia Studies (IRSEA) upgraded its institutional partnership with ASEAN Foundation by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding with the institution.

Having partnered with ASEAN Foundation since 2008, IRSEA has been constantly working together with the institution to raise awareness on the importance of ASEAN in the regional architecture of Southeast Asia and beyond.

In the light of the dynamics associated with the think-tank and research institutes worldwide, where digitalisation has gained significant momentum, IRSEA and ASEAN Foundation convened to diversify their cooperation by stepping up into virtually-conducted activities and events, reassuring their cooperation will withstand the test of time and develop on a continuous basis.

The ASEAN leaders established the ASEAN Foundation during the ASEAN 30th Anniversary Commemorative Summit in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on 15 December 1997.

As one of the two ASEAN permanent bodies, the ASEAN Foundation is tasked to support ASEAN mainly in promoting awareness, identity, interaction and development of the people of ASEAN, as a strategic instrument to achieve ASEAN’s goal.

Since the formation of ASEAN in 1967, ASEAN has gone on a long journey to accelerate the economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the region. The ASEAN Foundation has been an integral part of this mission for the last two decades.
