It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that The Romanian Institute for Europe-Asia Studies announces the tragic demise of its Honorary Member, the career diplomat, and Minister Councillor Ion Bobocea, after four decades of outstanding activity in the Romanian Diplomacy, in which he stood as an authoritative specialist in Europe-Asia relations and an unrelentless advocate of the robust interaction between the Two Continents.

Key specialist on Asia relations, Minister Councillor Bobocea has greatly consolidated Romania’s relations with Asian countries.

One of Romania’s greatest sinologists, remarkable specialist on the Romanian-Chinese relations, Minister Councillor Bobocea greatly contributed to promoting and supporting the so happily existing relations between Romania and China.

A genuine example for the further generations of Romanian diplomats, Minister Councilor Bobocea will remain a landmark of professionalism in the Romanian diplomacy and a true illustration of stateliness, as well as a person of distinguished character, humanity and elegance.
