Romanian Institute for Europe-Asia Studies Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad

Romanian Institute for Europe-Asia Studies (IRSEA), represented by H.E. Ambassador (p) Gheorghe Savuica, IRSEA’s President and Founder, and Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), represented by its Director General, H.E. Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, signed an MOU on November 3, 2021. The signature ceremony of the MoU was facilitated by the Centre for Strategic Perspectives (CSP) at the ISSI. H.E. Nicolae Goia, Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan and H.E. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Romania also joined the MoU signing ceremony.

Dr. Neelum Nigar, Director of the Centre for Strategic Perspectives stated in her introductory remarks that the current signing of the MoU between ISSI and IRSEA will revive the established institutional linkages between the two organizations. The two institutions have previously signed an MoU in 2008, which expired in 2012. A new MoU has been signed to further continue the mutual cooperation between the two institutes in the field of academic research, publications and joint projects.

In his welcome remarks, H.E. Ambassador (p) Gheorghe Savuica, President and Founder of IRSEA, highlighted the idea to bring the people of both countries together to know more about each other. Certainly, the new reconnection in shape of the signed MoU will provide multiple opportunities for the researchers of the two institutions to work together closely.

H.E. Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Director General of ISSI, highlighted the platforms that will be put to use to further strengthen Pakistan and Romanian ties. The institutional linkage will also increase the level of interactions between the two countries on multiple levels through dialogue, public talks, as well as pave the way for future joint research ventures and collaboration on issues of mutual concern.

H.E. Ambassador Nicolae Goia, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, extended his congratulations and support to the established linkage.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Ambassador of Pakistan to Romania, congratulated the two organizations in reviving the institutional linkage through the signing of the MoU.

The signing ceremony ended with a vote of thanks on behalf of the CSP Director, Dr. Nigar.
