In the past week, Pakistan asserted its strategic resolve along the long-contested frontier with Afghanistan, responding to Taliban provocations that threatened the country’s security. Late on Feb 26, sporadic firing and harassment quickly escalated into a coordinated series of aerial and ground strikes targeting Taliban positions deep within Afghanistan, including areas near Kabul. These operations were designed to dismantle networks that have long used Afghan territory to stage attacks on Pakistan.
