IRSEA Participates at Panel Discussion on Economic Security and Geo-Economics: Challenges and Opportunities for Pakistan

 

On March 9th, 2022, IRSEA participated in a virtual panel discussion hosted by the Center for Strategic Perspectives (CSP) of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), themed “Economic Security and Geo-Economics: Challeges and Opporunities for Pakistan”. The event was graciously chaired by H.E. Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudry, Director General of ISSI, and benefited the insightful key-note remarks of Dr. Salman Shah, Former Finance Minister of Pakistan.

Among the topic matters approached during the discussion figured Pakistan’s regional trade & economic integration, the country’s external account balance and its relationship with the International Monetary Fund, the dynamics of Pakistan’s human security and the country’s industrial development and the creation of Special Economic Zones.

Through the quality, professional experience and high expertise of its speakers, the event generated concrete policy suggestions for Pakistan’s sustainable economic development.

At the end of the discussion, H.E. Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman of Board of Governors, ISSI, commended the policy recommendations iterated by the speakers.

The event is connected to the Islamabad Security Dialogue (ISD), Pakistan’s annual flagship security forum, aiming to position Pakistan as a leading voice in thought leadership on national security issues, to be held in April 2022.

IRSEA was represented by its Director of Programmes, M.Sc. in Economics.
