On November 18th, 2022, Ambassador (p) Gheorghe Savuica, President of Founder of the Romanian Institute for Europe-Asia Studies (IRSEA), participated at “The Future of Asian World Order”. The webinar was organised and hosted by the Nepal Institute for Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE) – a partner of IRSEA – and hosted Dr. Parag Khanna, Founder and Managing Partner of FutureMap, Singapore, and author of “The Future is Asian. Global Order in the 21st Century”.
The seminar discussed the current Asian focus of the world economy and the increasing connections among the Asian countries, ranging from infrastructure to trade agreements. The four waves of change in Asia, namely the economic boom of Japan, the Asian tigers, China’s economic growth and – currently – South and Southeast Asia economic progress, have been thoroughly analysed, both economically and demographically. The speaker further opined that the small states could practice multi-alignment, i.e. not to pick sides, but instead playing those sides against each other for their own economic advantage.
The event’s host, Dr. Pramod Jaiswal, Research Director of NIICE, specializes on China and South Asia and has done extensive work on Chinese Foreign Policy, China’s South Asia Policy and China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Ambassador (p) Savuica’s meaningful participation has been fully recognised by NIICE, which presented IRSEA’s Founding President with a Certificate of Participation. The Ambassador recalled the excellent ties between IRSEA and NIICE and extended his sincere compliments for NIICE’s Research Director, Dr. Pramod Jaiswal, also a good friend of President Savuica.
NIICE is an independent, apolitical and non-partisan think tank based in Nepal. It believes in freedom, democracy and a world free from conflict. NIICE envisions a world where sources of insecurity are identified and understood, conflicts are prevented or resolved, and peace is advocated.
