IRSEA Deeply Regrets the Shocking Demise of Shinzo Abe, Former Prime Minister of Japan

Shocked by the heinous assasination of former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, it is with profound sorrow and deep regret that The Romanian Institute for Europe-Asia Studies (IRSEA) presents its sincere condolences to the Family and the People of Japan.

A great Prime Minister and outstanding Statesman, who dedicated his life to his Country, its People, and the Peace in the World, Shinzo Abe has been a giant on the world stage, with a legacy of global impact in times unchartered.

On January 16, 2018, the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe made an official visit to Bucharest and had a meeting with the President of Romania, Klaus Werner Iohannis.

The visit represented a historical moment: the first official visit of a Prime Minister of Japan to Romania and the first visit in the year of great importance to Romania, as the Romanian People celebrated the Centenary of Modern Romania.

Certainly, Shinzo Abe will hold a very special place in the history of the cordial and substantial Romanian-Japanese bilateral relations.

Shinzo Abe was the longest serving Prime Minister in the modern history of Japan. He will be greatly missed.
