H.E. Ambassador Mr. Do Duc Thanh, having recently presented his Credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Romania, concurrently accredited to Serbia and Montenegro, warmly welcomed Ambassador (p) Savuica and highly appreciated his kind gesture to pay a courtesy call.
Having begun his diplomatic career in March 1990 at Department I (Department for Big powers) of the then Institute of International Relations, currently the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, H.E Ambassador Do Duc Thanh has conducted research and teaching of the French language, translation and interpretation skills, Vietnam’s foreign policy, the Francophone community, the European Union (EU). He has later been appointed as Director of the Center for Vietnamese – French Translating and Interpreting (CFIT, 1997-2015), became the Dean of the Faculty of French (2011), in charge of teaching and cooperation of Francophonie (since 2008). Between 2009 and 2015, Ambassador Do has been Deputy Director General of the Foreign Service Training Center (2009-2015). Ambassador Do has also been the Chief of the Administration Office, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (2019-2022) and a Member of the Diplomatic Academy Council (2020-2022).
Since 2005, Ambassador Do held several diplomatic mandates. Between 2005 and 2008, he has been Counselor in charge of Culture and Press at the Embassy of Vietnam in France; between 2015-2018 he has been a Political Counselor, in charge of relations with the Vietnamese community in France, Embassy of Vietnam in France. Starting by July 2022, H.E. Mr. Do is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Romania, concurrently accredited to Serbia and Montenegro.
During Ambassador Savuica’s meeting with Ambassador Do, the two highly experienced diplomats enjoyed a friendly exchange of views on matters of common interest.
Ambassador (p) Savuica congratulated Ambassador Do for his mandate and wished him great success in all his endeavors to further strengthening the already excellent relations between Romania and Vietnam.
In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the two interlocutors have agreed that the cordial relationship between the Embassy of Vietnam in Bucharest and IRSEA has the potential to be upgraded through multiple ways. They have also shared the opinion that, in this regard, the academic cooperation and partnership between the like-minded think-tanks from both their countries could have an utmost significance. IRSEA is looking forward to establish partnerships and cooperation agreements with similar think-tanks in Vietnam. To this avail, the Vietnamese Ambassador warmly suggested one of the institutes in his country as IRSEA’s potential partner.
