IRSEA Hosts Discussion with Karnavati University on EU’s, India’s Role in the Afghan Crisis

On September 15, 2021, The Romanian Institute for Europe-Asia Studies(IRSEA) and Karnavati University(KU), India, hosted a round table discussion themed “The Afghanistan Conundrum: EU, India and the Road Ahead”.

The exchange of ideas was attended by the senior leadership of the two institutions as well as scholars and postgraduate students from Europe and Asia.

During the exchange of views, the speakers looked into several questions related to the most recent developments in Afghanistan: How are the efforts toward forming a government in Afghanistan perceived?; How are Afghanistan’s new self-acclaimed leaders regarded?; Are there real prospects of International Recognition?; What is the role of Afghanistan’s neighbouring states as external stakeholders?; What role could EU and India play in the post-US, post-NATO Afghanistan?

While all participants manifested their consensus for the role to be played by the international community in the resolution of the Afghan crisis, a particular importance was attached to upholding fundamental universal rights.

As Romania’s first independent, autonomous, not-for-profit Romanian think-tank, IRSEA is focused on raising awareness on Europe-Asia relations and Area Studies.
