IRSEA Awarded Distinction by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India, in Association with UNESCO

The Romanian Institute for Europe-Asia Studies(IRSEA) has been awarded a certificate in recognition of its activities conducted with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education(MAHE), India, in association with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation(UNESCO).

In the light of the fruitful partnership with MAHE, IRSEA has actively participated in the activities organised by the Academy and its affiliated institutions, including the Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences.

The last project, themed International Conference on Ecosophy, Art and Peace” (ICEAP-2021), reunited over 40 papers presented on-line, from India and abroad.

The events stressed upon the Ecological Civilization and Peace, i.e. harmony among states as well as between humans and nature. Lt. Gen. Dr. MD Venkatesh, MAHE's Vice-Chancellor highlighted the international peace threats, socio-economic and ecological problems which need to be addressed.

In his key-note speech, Prof. M. D. Nalapat, UNESCO Peace Chair, stated that the essence of the Indian civilization is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ ("The world is one family"). With this in mind, the Gandhian concept of ‘appropriate means’ should become the cardinal philosophy in every walk of life, including international relations in times of pandemic.

IRSEA praised the intellectually stimulating speaking engagements of all participants and stressed on the role of the event as auspicious instance of inter-institutional and cross-cultural venue of dialogue and cooperation. While analysing thе Fivе Principlеs of Pеacеful Coеxistеncе as both Chinеsе and Indian lеgacy in the field of Intеrnational Law, IRSEA stressed on the important role of historical relevance and actual significance of the principles of International Law, while arguing that the Five Principles might face a crucial moment in the light of the potential developments in the global arena.
